So, who is ArtMama?!
Around 10 years ago a kindergartener called
me 'Mama' by mistake (it happens more times than you think), I grabbed her up in my arms and told her I’m not your mama... but I can be your art mama"
The whole class giggled, and soon the name caught on and spread like wildfire - even with the teachers & staff - and the rest is history!
Bringing over two decades of experience as an esteemed art educator within Santa Rosa County, I've had the privilege of guiding and inspiring thousands of students from kindergarten through college. As a recognized and awarded certified art educator sanctioned by the Florida Department of Education, I am thrilled to extend my expertise and passion by establishing Hey ArtMama from my personal studio nestled in Gulf Breeze.
My focus lies in curating diverse and immersive art classes tailored for individuals of every age group. At Hey ArtMama, we pride ourselves on offering an expansive array of classes designed to resonate with our vibrant community.
Our after-school art lessons serve as a gateway, introducing young minds to the boundless realm of art, igniting their creative sparks. Here, students not only delve into art history but also master various techniques and fundamental concepts through the use of an eclectic mix of materials.
There's truly something for everyone, and I extend an open invitation, hoping you'll join me in the studio to explore the artistic journey together!
💙 Alicia Taylor, aka ArtMama
I'm really just Alicia Taylor...
I received my BFA and MFA from The Savannah College of Art & Design, majoring
in Design and Illustration. I worked as an Art Director in an Atlanta advertising agency
before trading heels for flip-flops and moving to the beach. I've taught art to
thousands of students at Oriole Beach Elementary and was honored to be
Teacher of the Year in 2011. I've been an adjunct professor, teaching Portfolio Prep at
Pensacola State College and I'm a certified Art Educator with the Florida Department of Education.
I’ve been married to my best friend Jim for 34 amazing years. We have a son Madison, and a daughter Rachel, two cats (Scout and Atticus) and my art assistant, Luna, my tiny Maltese pup, I enjoy sailing, reading, illustrating books, crocheting, and spending time with my family, and of course, all things art.
